Graeme joined LIU’s Melbourne office in November 2009, as a Senior Risk Engineer with a focus on property fire risk engineering. His role is to provide technical support to Fire Energy and Property underwriters and claims teams by carrying out site surveys and desktop reviews of existing and prospective client’s property portfolios.
Graeme commenced his career working in the field of occupational health and safety within the motor industry, banking and communications. Following this period he was employed by one of Australia’s iconic major retail conglomerates where he developed extensive experience providing risk engineering advice and input into the development and maintenance of large retail shopping centres, warehouses and other retail building projects. He has also participated in the analysis and assessment of risks associated with business critical IT data centres.
His experience includes conducting risk assessments, site surveys and management system audits at both enterprise and local levels and developing and implementing policies and procedures to manage risk. These activities have included conducting risk reviews of the design, installation and adequacy of property protection measures in premises across a broad range of industries including wholesale and retail goods distribution and storage, rail infrastructure, water storage, sewage and water treatment, desalination plants, ports, cement and building products manufacturing, metal products fabrication, fuel terminal and biofuel production, plastic moulding and wine production.
In addition to a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Graeme also has post graduate qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Fire Engineering and Risk Management.
